The second piece of motorized apparatus was this 1927 "American LaFrance" engine.  Engine No. 2 holds the registration number of C-178 from the American LaFrance company.  The '27, as it is called by the District was restored by the firefighters of the Brighton Fire Department in 1975.  The engine's fire pump is rated at 500 gallons per minute and still pumps water to this date.

In 1975, the 100 gallon water tank was removed and replaced with bench seats in the hose bed area.  The '27, is used by the Fire District for public education programs, parades and has been used with the "Make a Wish" foundation of the years.  There are plans in the future for the 27 ALF to receive some much needed TLC.  One of the tradition at Station #52, is the new firefighter is assigned a portion of the apparatus to be cleaned or polished.
