Inspections

________________________________________________________________________

In concert with our Public Education efforts to reduce life and property losses, GBFPD annually inspects all occupancies, except single family homes, within our jurisdiction. Some occupancies with a higher risk, such as schools and large retail facilities, are inspected twice annually, as appropriate. Although compliance with fire and building codes remains the responsibility IMG_2171.JPG (1436910 bytes)of the property owner, the Fire District is authorized by the Fire Code to conduct inspections to assist the property owner in coming into compliance with the Code. It is the intent of the District to inspect occupancies during the same month of each year so that the property owner or tenant will have a reasonable expectation as to when an inspection will occur. The District also conducts inspections, at the direction of the City Council of Brighton, for issuance of a City business, liquor, or sales tax license.

A property owner or tenant may request an additional inspection for insurance purposes at any time.

The District offers, at the request of an owner, or tenant of a rental property, free home safety surveys. These surveys are on a consulting basis only and recommendations are not binding on the owner or tenant.
